Ski Resorts Nearby
There are several famous ski resorts close to Lausanne. We suggest here some of those: [Villars], [Verbier], and [Les Diablerets] (where PKC'05 took place).
Villars
The 77 ski lifts and 220 km of trails of the Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets and Glacier 3000 ski area mean that you can leave and return to the resort with your skis on your feet, having skied from the 3,000-metre glacier all the way back to the village.
Access from Lausanne
By train (approx. 1 hour 30 min): Go from
Lausanne to Aigle, change train and go to
Villars-Gryon. Another possibility is to go through Bex
instead of Aigle (it takes a little longer though).
By car (approx. 50 min): Highway A9, exit
Aigle. Then you need approx. 20 min to get to Villars.

Verbier
Verbier certainly is one of the most famous ski resorts of the region. It is part of the "Four Valleys" ski area. Verbier's ski domain ranges from 1500m (town center) to 3330m (Mont Fort).
Access from Lausanne
By train (approx. 1 hour 30 min): Take the Simplon line to Martigny. Then take the
Martigny-Le Châble line. Buy your ski pass in le Châble and take the cable car to
Verbier.
By car (approx. 1 hour 20 min): Take the A9/E62 highway to
Martigny, then continue on Grand-Saint-Bernard road before
turning off toward Val de Bagnes at Sembrancher.

Les Diablerets
Les Diablerets offer three ski domains. Among these, the Glacier 3000 (named of course after its height) offers 25 km of (easy, but beautiful) ski runs. At 3000m, the snow is almost guaranteed ;-)
Access from Lausanne
By train (approx. 1 hour 30): Take the train from
Lausanne to Aigle (30 min). Then take the train from Aigle
to Les diablerets (45 min).
By car (approx. 1 hour): Motorway A9,
direction Grand St Bernard, exit Aigle. Then, head to Aigle - Les Diablerets (20 km).
