Travel information
FSE 2014 was held in London, United Kingdom. London is one of world's major destination cities, with excellent transport links and a wide choice of accommodation. At any time of the year, there is always plenty to see and do in London! For up-to-date tourist information about London, see visitlondon.com, London's official visitor online guide.
For information about visa to enter the UK to attend the FSE 2014 workshop, please see the "Visa Information" section below.
Travelling to London by Plane
London is served by five international airports: Heathrow (LHR), Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN), Luton (LTN) and London City Airport (LCY).
London Heathrow (LHR) is the UK's main airport, and connects London with the world's major cities. From Heathrow to central London, the best transport options are: take the Heathrow Express train, which links the airport to Paddington station (4 trains per hour; trip takes 15 minutes), or use the London Underground (Picadilly Line) to reach a choice of tube stations in central London (using the underground is cheaper, but takes considerally longer). If staying around the conference venue area (South Kensington), the latter is a better option: the Picadilly line train from Heathrow stops at both Gloucester Road and South Kensington stations, while using the Heathrow Express means that you will need to change to the Circle Line at Paddington to reach South Kensington.
If you are using one of the many low-cost airlines that serve London, you are likely to fly to either Gatwick (LGW), Stansted (STN) or London Luton (LTN) airport. From Gatwick you can reach central London by taking the Gatwick Express train to Victoria station; similarly, you can get a train to Liverpool station from Stansted, or St Pancras station from Luton airport. From any of these stations, you can catch the underground to your final destination in London (see the "Travelling in London" section below).
Travelling to London by Train
If you travel to the UK by train (with the Eurostar from continental Europe), you will arrive in London at St Pancras International station; from there you can catch the underground to your final destination in London. If you are travelling by train to London from other cities in the UK, you can find out travel information (stations, timetable, fares, etc) at the Network Rail website.

Note 2: application for visa to visit the UK can be time consuming, so we would suggest that you contact the British consulate in your country of residence to check the exact procedure and time frame for visa application/granting before registering to the conference and contacting us.
