The Coding and Cryptography Group at the Institute of Computer Science, the University of Tartu, Estonia, is looking for a Research Fellow for a project on algebraic coding theory and network coding. The ideal candidate will have strength in one or more of the following areas:

The Cryptography Group of Department of Computer Science at Aalto University is looking for a talented doctoral student in cryptographic engineering. The topics of this doctoral position are related to secure and efficient cryptography in wireless sensor networks and devices for the Internet of Things. The exact topic will be decided together with the doctoral student based on his/her background and research interests.

The duration of the project is three years starting from December 2015 or January 2016, and the contract is made for one year at a time. A candidate should have completed a Master (or equivalent) degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, or other related field. We expect experience at least in some of the following topics: cryptography, side-channel attacks and countermeasures, digital design, embedded systems, and programming (in particular VHDL and/or C). The Cryptography Research Group seeks qualified PhD students for an immediate internship opening working on applied MPC projects. Funded by the EU H2020 Marie Sk?odowska-Curie program, the Privacy & Us Innovative Training Network will train thirteen creative, entrepreneurial and innovative early stage researchers (ESRs) to be able to reason, design and develop innovative solutions to questions related to the protection of citizens’ privacy, considering the multidisciplinary and intersectoral aspects of the issue. CryptoExperts is looking for an excellent, motivated, self-driven doctoral student with some background on cryptology and proven research abilities, to work in the area of white-box cryptography. The position is for 3 years at CryptoExperts in Paris (https://www.cryptoexperts.com) with an academic co-direction, starting as soon as possible.

The candidate may be of any nationality but may have resided in France for at most 1 year in the 3 years preceeding the application. They can have at most 2 years of research experience at the doctoral level. The PhD student is expected to have a MSc degree or equivalent.

This PhD position will be fully funded by the ECRYPT-NET project (www.ecrypt.eu.org/net/). ECRYPT-NET is a European research network that intends to develop advanced cryptographic techniques and implementations for the Internet of Things and the Cloud. The network is currently recruiting a group of 15 PhD students who will be trained in an international context, that involves Summer Schools and internships. The project offers opportunities to travel and interact with PhD students and scientists all over Europe.

The PhD thesis will focus on white-box cryptography and may include works ranging from theoretic solutions (e.g. indistinguishability obfuscation) to practical cryptanalytic attacks on software claimed to be white-box secure, as well as designing reliable software solutions of industrial strength in mobile environments.

- the construction and analysis of multilinear maps;

- the formal security analyses of these schemes.

Based within Lancaster University’s institution-wide research centre, Security Lancaster, which is one of the UK’s Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. You will join a major programme of work on cyber security of industrial control systems currently in progress through a number of research projects. Specifically, you will be part of the EPSRC-Chist-ERA programme funded project DYPOSIT: Dynamic Policies for Shared Cyber-Physical Infrastructures Under Attack. The project will commence on 1 December 2015 and is being undertaken in collaboration with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium and University College Cork, Ireland.

You will conduct in depth research into security policy models for CPS under attack. Working in collaboration with project partners, develop a dynamic policies model and associated reasoning techniques and policy instantiation mechanisms. You will also develop a framework which enables collection of information to reason about the security state of a CPS and enforcement of dynamic policies. You will also take a leading role in the evaluation of the research outcomes. An extensive real-world testbed for security of industrial control systems (representing complex CPS in such settings) is already available within Security Lancaster. The postholder will utilise and configure the testbed with suitable scenarios and configurations for use in experimental work within the project. S/he will also take a leading role in the design and execution of experiments within the testbed.
