The Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) seeks to fill six post-doctoral positions in the area of cyber security for the Project BCS-T: Testing for Block Chain Security by Design. Selected candidates will have a unique opportunity to work closely with the developers of Ethereum and an international team of researchers located in Singapore and the Netherlands (TNO and TU Delft). The primary focus of BCS-T is to develop foundations for a systematic approach to identify and mitigate the security risks of block chain technology in general, and smart contracts in particular.

The project results will be validated using case studies, where block chain technologies, such as HyperLedger and Ethereum, are deployed in IoT and FinTech applications. This offers researchers a unique opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research and validate it in a realistic setting. Collaboration with several private and Government agencies in Singapore and abroad increases the chances of technology transfer and hence the research impact.

The project has been awarded funding, and selected candidates will be expected to join ASAP. Later joining dates could be negotiated.

Surrey Centre for Cyber Security (SCCS) and Department of Computer Science at the University of Surrey seeks to recruit an outstanding post-doctoral researcher in the fields of Security and Privacy for a full-time position, starting in November/December 2017. The initial contract is for 24 months.

The research fellow will be working under supervision of Dr Mark Manulis in the interdisciplinary EPSRC funded project “TAPESTRY: Trust, Authentication and Privacy over a DeCentralised Social Registry” that develops and demonstrates new cryptographic protocols to enable people, businesses and services to connect safely online.

Successful applicants will have core skills in the design, analysis and implementation of privacy-oriented cryptographic protocols (e.g. zero-knowledge protocols) and experience in the implementation of distributed/web-based applications (incl. browser plugins). At the Quantum Cryptography Group, University of Tartu, we are looking for phd students on Verification of Quantum Cryptography. Full funding is available.

We are starting a project in which we will develop methods for the verification of proofs in quantum cryptography. Similar to what the EasyCrypt tool does in classical cryptography. The scope of the project covers everything from the logical foundations, through the development of tools, to the verification of real quantum protocols.

Intelligent Voice makes the world’s fastest speech to text software based in the heart of the financial district in London. Traditionally by leveraging GPGPU technology deployed on on-premise servers we have preserved privacy of customer data by placing it behind firewalls. The cloud offers an ideal opportunity for storing large volumes of data in a low-cost efficient way. However, the storage of sensitive data such as speech in plain text format on the cloud is not permitted in many industry sectors such as finance, health care etc. Hence speech data should be encrypted before storage on the cloud, and because it contains biometric identifiers it must remain encrypted. The challenge then is to search over large amounts of encrypted speech and return encrypted search results that can be decrypted by the user only.

Building on existing research within the company we seek a talented cyber security expert to assist with the challenge of merging privacy-preserving cloud technology with our speech recognition software. Knowledge of searchable and fully homomorphic encryption protocols is desired.
